New Zealand universities are excellence in education tradition, equipped with technology to help graduates to be successful in a global environment. There are 8 state-funded universities:

All 8 universities offer the full range of recognized university qualifications from bachelor degrees through to doctoral programmes. Degrees range from arts, commerce, and music to engineering, medicine and pharmacy. Some universities have additional specialty faculties. For instance, The University of Otago has Health Sciences Division, specializing in dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy and medicine.
In general, each university has its own specific point system. Each course is associated with a set of points which is equivalent to the workload of the course. The students have to obtain sufficient points to be granted a degree.
Undergraduate Degree
Students normally spend a minimum of 3 years to complete a bachelor degree. General degrees offer a wide range of subjects and it is up to the students to choose the direction that the degree will take.
On the other hand, specific degrees do require a longer time of study (e.g. a minimum of four to five years). Shoulder Bag. Such degrees include dentistry, engineering, medicine, pharmacy etc. The students are required to study a set of limited but specialized subjects.
Tuition fee of an undergraduate degree is within the range of NZD$12,000 – NZD$19,000 per year for international students.
Entry Requirement Students need to meet the English language as well as the academic requirements as outlined below. The following requirement is for general guidance only; each university has different admission criteria.
English Proficiency Applicants are normally required to provide proof of English proficiency level. This is normally done by attempting a recognized English language test such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum requirements for both tests are as follow:
- IELTS (Academic) 6.0 - 6.5 (with 5.5 or better in each band)
- TOEFL 550
If you do not meet the above requirement, you are advised to attend English language school to gain better English proficiency to meet the requirement.

Postgraduate
A wide range of post-graduate qualifications could be obtained from any New Zealand universities. Students could choose from one-year graduate diplomas, through masters degrees providing a balanced study of coursework and research, to purely research-based doctorates. Master degrees normally take 2 years to complete while PHD takes 3 to 7 years of research efforts. The tuition fee of postgraduate studies could range from NZD20,000 to NZD35,000 per year for international students.
Application Requirement To apply for admission for the postgraduate studies, students are to have completed a bachelor degree in the relevant field, at a recognized institution of university. Besides, the students also need to prove their English proficiency level. The general IELTS and TOEFL requirements are as follow:
